Choosing Joy

We are in the season of joy.And I think this year, it's been more challenging than ever for people to choose joy every day.I've had a lot of loss. I've lost both my husband and my son to suicide in the past six years. One of the biggest things we tend to attach joy to is our family. When you lose that, you can really start thinking, why me? and you can go down that whole slippery slope of ‘my life is over. It doesn't matter anymore.’Here’s the thing: your joy is not attached to circumstances or things, age, or people.I see people just wishing 2020 to be over, as though something magical is going to happen on January 1st when we flip over the calendar.

Make the Choice

Joy is a choice. Every single morning, I have to choose to wake up and go, Okay, this is my life. What am I going to do to make it better today?I make sure that I see what I'm grateful for, not what is missing, or what I think is missing. You CAN change your circumstances through thoughts and actions. What I have learned in my life is that every time I'm getting ready to take another leap and do something bigger, there are outside voices wanting to keep us down that show up.But they are not the voices of truth.I know that if I'm feeling any kind of doubt or fear about what I'm supposed to do, then game on! That means what I’m embarking on is going to be good.

Step Into Your Purpose

People need to change that perspective. You're not about to do something wrong or make a mistake. If you're feeling excited and doubtful at the same time, it means you’re owed congratulations, because you're about to step into your purpose! When you choose that perspective, that force, that alignment every single day, it just seeps into your inner being. In just an hour you can go from experiencing the depths of despair to not only being able to function but to be joyful.I’m told all the time, “I don't even know how you're functioning through all of that.”I've always had a very strong vision to teach people how to find their own vision. I've known for many, many years since I was about 27 years old that that was going to be my purpose. In a very quiet space with a legal pad of paper, I sat and wrote my vision of what I wanted my life to look like. Eight years ago, I felt a calling to start teaching other people how to get their vision in writing.

Vision At Every Age

And now, I am beginning to work with young adults – those who are college-aged up through their early 30s are being pushed out into the world and they’re floundering for the most part. They have no idea what they're doing for the next three months, let alone what they want in three years for their lives. They’ve also missed out on a lot of really foundational skill-building stuff like boundaries, money management, and time management.  I’m showing them how Vision is Victory is truly a tool for choosing joy. It's been my anchor in all the storms as well. My gratitude and my vision are what pulled me through my darkest days to bring me to where I am now.  You’re invited to create the life you deserve by joining our free Vision is Victory masterclass.
